She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling, is a licensed practitioning counselor (holds an LPC in the state of Colorado) and holds a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology.

For over ten years, Dr. Politis has worked in a variety of different settings with children, adolescents, adults, and families presenting with a wide array of symptoms and struggles. Some of these settings include residential treatment centers, county mental health agencies, outpatient/agency settings, intensive in-home settings, alternative care facilities for individuals diagnosed with chronic mental illness, and multiple levels within the Child Welfare System. Dr. Politis has also worked with children and families diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, attachment disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, individuals charged with crimes and on probation, and individuals struggling with substance abuse issues. In addition to therapeutic services, Dr. Politis also provides comprehensive psychological evaluations in an effort to bring about answers and recommendations in response to patient’s questions and concerns.

In addition to her direct-care therapeutic experience, Dr. Politis has also served as both a program manager and clinical supervisor where she helped guide, train, and empower other clinicians in the mental health field.

One of Dr. Politis’s most important strengths is her ability to listen empathically to other individuals and what they want, and to operate from an understanding of their worldview in a non-judgmental way. Dr. Politis genuinely sees the potential in others; and while she realizes everyone has areas of challenge, ultimately, people are alive with possibilities and strengths. Dr. Politis is drawn toward helping people facilitate change in their lives-be it in a clinical, supervisory, or educational setting. When Dr. Politis interacts with others, her objective is to help them experience happiness and personal success. She looks for ways to challenge her patients and help them devise interesting experiences that can help guide them towards harmony.

Dr. Politis employs a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions, as she recognizes that one particular approach may not be the best fit in every case. Her aim is to remain open-minded and flexible in order to provide the most culturally appropriate services in each situation. It is important to Dr. Politis that the treatment process be highly patient-driven while establishing and working towards goals. From a strengths-based perspective, Dr. Politis empowers her patients to make necessary changes and build on their needs areas. Dr. Politis’s particular interests are in healthy attachments and healthy relationships, as it is her belief these things fully impact overall mental and physical health and are imperative to living harmoniously. Dr. Politis is trained to provide EMDR and other therapeutic interventions to help those impacted by trauma, as well as other life disturbances.
